Why Should You Live On Campus? Here are the top 5 reasons why!
No. 1 – Increased Academic Success
Research of college students across the nation indicates that students who live on campus are more satisfied with their college experience, earn higher grade point averages, and are more likely to graduate. Living on campus helps you become more plugged in to the UM community and develop a support network interested in your success. (Source: The American Council on Education)
No. 2 – Convenience and Proximity to Services
Living in our residence halls places everything you need at your fingertips. You will save countless hours living on campus, providing additional time for your academic and social success. Recreational facilities, 库, classroom buildings, 教授, transportation and myriad campus events are literally just steps away. It’s also easier to connect to the UM community and interact with 教授 and other students.
No. 3 – Live Secure
Campus safety is on-call and patrolling our campus 24/7, every day of the year. They protect our students and their vehicles. Every residence hall is staffed with a Residence Hall Director (RHD) and Resident Assistants (RAs) who monitor the halls. The UM Police Department is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone.
No. 4 – Worry-Free Living
With your residence hall fees and meal plan, all the basics such as utilities, 租金, furniture and amenities are covered. As a resident you will avoid the hassles of setting up utilities, paying monthly bills and wasting time commuting to class, the library or the gym. By living in a UM residence hall, you’ll get the full college experience and make memories that last a lifetime.
No. 5 – Residence Life 工作人员
Living on campus means independence, but it does not mean that you are alone. From the moment you arrive in August to the moment you graduate in May, the Residence Life staff is here to build community and to help you get involved.
